How Much is a Boob Job?

Many people want to know about Shreveport breast augmentation costs. Sometimes we get asked specifically, “How much is a boob job?” This is a valid, important concern among our patients, and we always do our best to give them the most clear, straightforward answer.

There are other concerns you might have, other than ‘How much are breast implants.’ We outline some of those questions here.

How Much is a Boob Job in Shreveport?

The national average for the cost of a boob job is $6,300. Because it is considered a cosmetic procedure, many health insurance companies do not cover breast augmentations. The Plastic Surgery Center’s prices for a boob job range from a couple thousand to right around the national average. Fortunately, The Plastic Surgery Center offers accessible financing options. You might be able to make monthly payments with as little as under $200 every month.

Are Boob Jobs Painful?

Your breast augmentation surgery will be conducted under general anesthesia. You will not feel anything during the procedure. The first few days of recovery might be a bit painful. You will experience bruising, swelling, and pain. Dr. Wall will make sure you receive the pain medications you need. After about a week or so, you should be on your way to normal life again.

How Long Does a Boob Job Take?

For most straightforward cases, the surgery will last around two hours. For people who are going to need extra large breast augmentation, the procedure might take a bit more time. Some people with unusual breast shapes or bone structures might also require a bit more time in the operating room.

Can You Breast Feed With Implants?

Only in very rare circumstances do women end up not being able to breastfeed. In most cases, they last for a long time and you will be able to breastfeed. We provide more information here: Breastfeeding After Breast Augmentation.

Do I Need a Breast Lift With a Boob Job?

The first thing you will need to decide is whether or not you need or want more volume in your bra. If you are dissatisfied with your bust size or your breast tissue, you will need more volume. In this case, we would recommend a breast augmentation. This might be in combination with a breast lift, depending on your skin.

However, if you are satisfied with the amount of volume you have, but are perhaps unhappy with your skin, we might suggest just a Shreveport breast lift procedure. This is for people that are happy with their bust size, but unhappy with possible droopiness or the placement of the breast tissue on the chest.

If the position of your nipple is below the fold of your breast while standing in front of a mirror, and you also want larger breasts, you will need a lift and an implant. This is called augmentation mastopexy.

What Are The Possible Complications For Breast Augmentations?

If you are working with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, you can expect very few or no complications.

Be wary of some of the cheaper price tags you see for boob jobs in other countries. Many of these surgeons do not meet the same rigorous standards that Board Certified Plastic Surgeons do in the United States. There, the complication rates are much higher. Surgeons might have less training and less incentive to care for the possible complications.

When Do You See Results From a Boob Job in Shreveport?

Most patients experience initial swelling followed by a gradual resolution of the swelling. This might result in a slight loss of volume. After about 2 months, the swelling will be completely gone. Then, you will be at your approximate breast size.

Around this time, we give our patients the green light to start purchasing new wardrobe items.  Still, always remember that you might not have your final breast shape. This refers to the way the breasts will look out of clothes when standing naked. We caution about this because the overlying soft tissues are still adjusting to the new implant.

This takes around 2-3 months for above-the-muscle implants. For below-the-muscle implants, it might take anywhere from 4-6 months. Speak to Dr. Wall during your consultation if you are concerned about this.

Who Is a Candidate for a Shreveport Breast Augmentation?

Breasts continue to develop until women reach their late teens or early 20s. Because of this, the FDA requires that women be at least 18 years of age to get a breast augmentation with saline-filled implants. For silicone implants, you must be at least 22 years old.

You must be in good physical health. By that, we mean you can’t have any active infections, cancer, or serious illnesses. Additionally, it’s best if you don’t smoke and do not consume large amounts of alcohol. You should bring up any major health problems in your consultation with Dr. Wall.

We like to make sure that our patients are mentally prepared for the process of transformation. Having a healthy frame of mind when deciding on the surgery will be important.

For saline implants, the FDA requires you to be at least 18 years old. If you want silicone implants, the minimum age is 22.

How Do You Keep the Results of a Boob Job?

You cannot simply reverse the process of aging with a scalpel. However, there are some precautions you can take to prolong your results.  Breast tissue and breast implants carry a lot of weight. Breast implants are actually heavier than native breast tissue. Over time, gravity and the activities that you do will move this weight. Eventually, the weight will overpower the soft tissue support. This will create droopiness and a poorly positioned implant. Because of this, Dr. Wall often recommends that his patients wear breast support as much as possible. This includes while they are sleeping.

You should also avoid weight fluctuations, up or down. This can affect your supporting soft tissue. Avoid unnecessary damage to your soft tissue by limiting exposure to tanning and nicotine.
