Shreveport Breast Lift Surgery

Even if you were confident in your physical appearance at a younger age, time can take a toll on even the most anatomically perfect individuals. Pregnancy, weight loss, nursing, genetics, and the unavoidable pull of gravity, among many other things, can all contribute to the sagging appearance of a woman’s breasts. While this can be frustrating, a simple breast lift can easily correct this condition and restore that natural and youthful firmness you desire.

Concerned about the cost associated with breast lift surgery? We can help you find resources and information regarding finances.

A breast lift, technically known as a “mastopexy,” is a type of cosmetic procedure that aims to reshape, tighten, and essentially lift the breasts. A breast lift can also reduce the size of the areola, as it may become enlarged over time.

The purpose of a breast lift is to remove excess skin around the breast and tighten the surrounding tissue in order to reshape the breasts. It is not a means to achieve larger, fuller breasts nor is it able to significantly reduce the size of them. If this is what you hope to achieve, consider pairing your breast lift with a breast augmentation or a breast reduction.

Before your procedure takes place, Dr. Wall will provide you with all the necessary information and instructions you will need. Follow these instructions as a guide as you approach the date of your surgery to ensure a smooth, safe procedure and recovery.

The surgery itself is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes around two hours to complete. Depending on what Dr. Wall decides with you at your initial consultation, he will create one of the four potential types of incisions. These incisions or techniques include the crescent lift, peri-areolar lift, a vertical lift, and an inverted T or “anchor” lift. You can learn more about each type of incision technique by reading our blog: “What Will Your Scars Look Like After a Breast Lift?

Once the incision is made, your surgeon will lift and tighten the breast tissue by pulling the skin up and over the new breast shape. Sutures are made that will help support the new breast contour and any excess skin is cut away and removed. If necessary, the nipple and areola will be repositioned to a different, typically higher spot to accommodate your new breast shape.

You may be a good candidate for a breast lift if you are:

  • A mother who has nursed multiple children
  • An older woman who has noticed less firmness
  • Healthy and stable with grounded expectations
  • Seeking to regain a youthful appearance
  • A woman who has sagging breasts due to loss of skin elasticity
  • Insecure about the size of your areolas

For those women who plan to have more children in the future or are still uncertain, it is best to hold off on undergoing surgery until fully ready, as pregnancy and breastfeeding after a breast procedure of any kind can take away from the surgical results. Those who do wish to proceed with this surgery should be aware that there may be complications or side effects, such as scars, infection, changes in feeling in the nipple or breast, and other potential issues.

Immediately following the surgery, dressings and/or bandages will be applied to the incision site. A small tube may be placed beneath the skin temporarily to drain any excess blood or fluid leaking from the site but will be removed within a few days. After wearing the bandages for a few days, you will then need to transfer your breasts into a support bra in order to minimize swelling and support them as they recover. This bra will need to be worn continuously for the next 4 weeks or until your doctor specifies otherwise. You should only ever remove the bra when showering.

You will likely experience significant swelling and bruising following surgery, but both generally subside at around 2 weeks postop. While you are recovering, avoid straining, lifting, or bending. Any strenuous activity in general should be avoided until your doctor clears you. This will likely be at or around 4 weeks following the procedure.

Your surgeon will go over everything you can expect with your breast lift recovery, including instructions and any potential risks or complications that may arise. They will also be able to address any of your individual concerns or questions.

Though experiencing any serious complications following your breast lift performed by a board certified plastic surgeon is unlikely, there will always remain potential risks surrounding any type of surgery. Potential complications from breast lift surgery include:

  • Risks associated with anesthesia
  • Bleeding
  • Scarring
  • Fluid accumulation
  • Infection
  • Irregularities or asymmetry in the size and/or shape of the breasts
  • Changes in nipple sensation
  • Trouble breastfeeding
  • Partial or total loss of nipple and/or areola
  • Fat necrosis

If you are working with a highly skilled and experienced plastic surgeon such as Dr. Wall, you can expect little to no complications to arise. Always be wary of some of the cheaper price tags you see for boob jobs in other countries, though. Many of these surgeons do not meet the same rigorous standards that Board Certified Plastic Surgeons do in the United States. There, the complication rates are much higher and surgeons might have less training and less incentive to care for the possible complications.

The cost of a breast lift in Shreveport, or anywhere for that matter, varies significantly depending on a number of different factors. During your consultation, you will be made aware of all of these factors. Dr. Wall will also be able to assess your body at your consultation as well as your goals and desires for the surgery. With this information, he can give you a better price estimate that fits your unique personal circumstances.

To help make breast lift surgery more affordable to you, The Plastic Surgery Center offers accessible financing options. You might be able to make monthly payments of as little as $200 or less.
